The EC is happy to announce that Pawel Garbacz and Oliver Kutz accepted to be
Program Chairs of FOIS 2014 in Rio de Janeiro.
The Program Chairs will shortly start planning the event togheter with the FOIS
General Chair (Laure Vieu) and the local organizer (Giancarlo Guizzardi). An
agenda for the organization of FOIS and related deadlines is being prepared. (011)
The EC has decided to appoint two publicity chairs: one focused on local
publicity and one on worldwide publicity. (012)
There is not yet a complete proposal for the IAOA Summer School in 2014. (013)
The EC points out that the term "ontology" as understood within the IAOA
differs from conceptions of "ontology" in other fields of relevance for
IAOA. Publicity and IAOA activities in general should take this factor into
account. (014)
The EC discussed the registration for the 2013 IAOA Summer Institute to be held
this June.
The IAOA will support Thomas Bittner's travel expenses for up to 2800 Euro. The
organizers will continue discussions concerning travel grants for students or
other potential participants. In particular, there are some concerns about the
amount of the registration fees. (015)
The EC plans to hold regular meetings every two weeks, starting from Feb. 25,
2013. (016)
The EC started to discuss about the next EC election, to be held at the 2013
Assembly (yet to be determined). (017)
