The EC looked at the status of the Summer Institute event to be held in 2013.
Following the experience in 2011, the event will be organized in cooperation
with the Vespucci Institute (Fiesole, Italy) and will be held in the first week
of June. The topic will be related to ontology, multi-scale and conceptual
modelling. Werner Kuhn and Michael Gruninger will lead the organization. (011)
The EC agreed that the General Chair for IAOA events (FOIS, Summer School,
Summer Institute) should be appointed before the end of each respective event.
The EC establishes an Event Steering Committee which will coordinate (at the
minimum) the series FOIS, Summer Institute and Ontology Summit.
The Summer School series will remain under the control of the Education
Committee.
The Committee is formed by Frank Loebe, Michael Gruninger, Laure Vieu and the
IAOA President in charge (in his role as OntologySummit General Co-chair). (012)
The EC discussed about the internal election of the new officers (President,
Vice-President and Secretary) which will take charge from Janyary 1st, 2013.
The election will take place during the first EC meeting of November (members
of the actual EC which will step down in December 2012 will not vote).
The treasurer for 2013 will be nominated once the other positions are filled. (013)
The treasurer reported on the IAOA financial statement for 2012. The budget of
the association is positive due to the successfull organization of IAOA events
and notwithstanding the considerable number of scholarships distributed this
year. (014)
