Sixty-first meeting of the IAOA Executive Council (EC)
Virtual Meeting of 13 June 2012    (07)

Attendees:
Nicola Guarino (chair)
John Bateman
Stefano Borgo
Michael Gruninger
Giancarlo Guizzardi
Laure Vieu
Peter Yim    (08)

The EC was informed on the latest news relative to the organization of the FOIS
conference and associated events. The proceedings are in press. Posters authors
have been notified. The organizers are verifying if it will be possible to
allow remote participation at least during the IAOA Assembly.    (09)

The IAOA Election Committee for 2012 is formed by: Antony Cohn, Anthony Galton,
Valter Cavecchia, Nicola Guarino, John Bateman, Leo Obrst.
The Election Committee is working on the scheduling and other aspects of the
election process.    (010)

The EC discussed some open issues relatively to the IAOA Assembly and the
election procedure. In particular, the EC discussed the issue of the optimal
number of members in the next EC since the Bylaws indicates only a range from 5
to 11. The EC decided to keep that number flexible in the ByLaws, allowing the
Election Committee to make the most appropriate call for each Election as the
situation arises.    (011)

The EC agreed with the suggestion from members of the Advisory Board that EC
candidates need to be nominated, and seconded by another member other than
himself or herself (i.e. self-nomination is not allowed). The ByLaws were
provisionally changed accordingly.    (012)

In the rest of the session the EC discussed open issues in the Bylaws and
related suggestions received from members of the Advisory Board and the
Election Committee.    (013)

(End of Report)    (014)
