The EC discussed the problem caused by the fact that as of today password reset
must be done manually by the treasurer. This security step has important
drawbacks when a high number of members request the service within a short
period of time as it happened last week during the voting period.
Once the problem became evident, the EC reacted immediately by: (1) extending
the voting period, (2) implementing a new automatic service for password reset.
These decisions taken during the week have been ratified. (09)
The EC was updated on the state of FOIS. Things are moving regularly as
planned. A detailed schedule of the conference and co-located events (among
which the IAOA Assembly and SIGs meeting) will be ready soon. (010)
The IAOA Summer School organization is proceeding smoothly. All the students
that have applied for grants have been allowed at register at the early
registration fee (independently of the result of their grant application). The
organizers are planning a social event likely in the first or second evening of
the school. (011)
The EC has discussed dates and procedure for the EC election. The election
procedure will follow the one implemented in 2010. It will start in June with
the nomination to candidacy period. The EC election will take place at the end
of June - beginning of July and will be completed well before the (physical)
Assembly at FOIS. A dedicated message with dates and procedure will be
distributed to the members shortly.
The EC invites the IAOA members to consider nominating themselves and/or other
members as candidates for the EC. (012)
John Bateman, Nicola Guarino and Leo Obrst will be in the election committee.
Other people from the Advisory Board and IAOA members (who will not be
candidate for the EC) will be contacted to join the election committee. (013)
The EC discussed some issues about the organization of the IAOA website.
Members are invited to highlight problems and suggest improvements. (014)
