An Ontology Summit 2011 virtual panel session entitled: "Harvesting
the Business Value of Ontologies: Recent Case Examples" is coming up
this Thursday at the date/time shown above. Organized and co-chaired
by Mills Davis (Managing Director, Project10X) and Mike Bennett
(Director, Hypercube), they will feature, in this session, several
case examples that illustrate different ways that ontologies are being
used today to deliver value. Besides Mills and Mike, we will be
briefed by Chuck Rehberg (CTO, Trigent), Greg Bardwell (CEO,
Innovative Query) and Jeff Zhuk (Director of Enterprise Architecture,
Sallie Mae). See details on the session page
at: http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?ConferenceCall_2011_01_27    (04)

Our co-champions of the "Applications and Case Studies" track have put
together these real-world applications, as part of the Summit program,
to help us gear up to making a compelling case for Ontology. Besides
the presentations, we will also have adequate time for Q&A and open
discussion.    (05)

RSVP now if you haven't already (by adding your name to the wiki, if
you are already part of the community, or simply email
<peter.yim@xxxxxxxx> to register your attendance.    (06)

We'll look forward to have you at the session this Thursday.    (07)

********************* Details ************************    (022)

This is our 6th Ontology Summit, a joint initiative by NIST, Ontolog,
NCOR, NCBO, IAOA & NCO_NITRD along with the support of our
co-sponsors. The theme adopted for this Ontology Summit is: "Making
the Case for Ontology." In an earlier planning session last month
(2010.12.16), the community brainstormed on this initiative and how
best to frame the issues. That and subsequent input were carefully
reviewed and synthesized by the Summit Organizing Committee, and it is
this plan and program that we will be discussing with everyone during
this launch event.    (023)

These sessions, like all Ontolog virtual events, are open and free of
charge. Anyone who is interested, or (better still) who may have
something to contribute, is welcome. Please refer to event details on
the session pages, to which the hyperlink is given above, where you
will find session agenda, conference call dial-in, slides and other
pertinent information. Feel free to pass this invitation along to
colleagues who may also find these sessions to be of interest.    (024)

*RSVP* by emailing Peter Yim at <peter.yim@xxxxxxxx> offline (or add
yourself directly to the session page if you are already an Ontolog or
Ontology Summit community member) so that we can prepare enough
resources to support everyone. [Please state clearly the date of the
session you are registering for in your email.] ... All respondents
will be subscribed (if they aren't already so) to the
[ontology-summit] mailing list so they are participate in the virtual
discourse.    (025)

These sessions will be recorded and made available in a publicly
accessible archive. Therefore, before participating, please make sure
you are cognizant of our IPR policy (ref:
http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?WikiHomePage#nid32).    (026)
