The EC has discussed a proposal regarding IAOA fee reductions for less
developed countries. The idea is to use some of the World Bank Lists as a
criteria to guarantee reductions for members working in less developed
countries. A few special cases can also be treated via agreements with local
associations. The EC is investigating this possibility.    (010)

[Antony Galton and Fabian Neuhaus, chairs of the IAOA education committee, as
well as Werner Kuhn, chair of the IAOA summer school committee, were invited to
discuss the IAOA education initiatives]    (011)

The EC together with the chairs of the IAOA education committee and of the IAOA
summer school committee discussed the plan and the structure of the education
event for 2011.     (012)

It has been decided to articulate further the IAOA educational activities by
distinguishing two types of events: schools and institutes. An IAOA school is
organized in the traditional way and aims to provide students with a choice of
elementary and advanced courses in ontology. An IAOA institute is an event that
focuses on a single topic and aims to foster an in-depth interaction between
the participants in the effort to solve existing application problems as well
as related research issues. The EC has agreed to alternate institutes and FOIS
conferences over the years.    (013)

The 2011 IAOA education event will be organized in the form of an IAOA
institute on the topic of ``process ontology''. The event will last one week
and will be co-organized by the IAOA and the Vespucci initiative
(http://vespucci.org/presentation). The official call for participation will
circulate shortly. The IAOA summer school will be organized the year after
(2012).    (014)

The EC has been notified of the received proposals to host the FOIS conference
taking place in 2012. The EC has decided to request further information from
some sites in order to make possible a reliable comparison of the proposals.    (015)

(End of Report)    (016)
