The EC discussed the benefits granted to institutions that are members of the
association. After a discussion of the role of institutions in IAOA and of a
list of possible benefits, the EC has decided that an institution can register
as member of the IAOA by paying the institutional membership fee and by
indicating an institution representative (which will be registered as
individual member as well). Any other affiliate of the institution can register
with a discount: 30 Euro instead of 50 for regular membership and 10 Euro
instead of 15 for students.
The decision is effective from January first 2011. (010)
The EC has decided to invite a few more individuals to join the IAOA Advisory
Board. We hope to have diversity on the Advisory Board to
allow a broad coverage of ontology research focus and opinions. Invitations are
being sent. It is expected that the Advisory Board will be operative soon. (011)
A discussion was conducted on establishing SIGs (special interest groups). In
particular the proposal of a SIG on "Ontology and Conceptual Modelling" was
raised. The EC will look toward drafting the Committees and SIGs' establishment
and operating procedure into the IAOA Bylaws. (012)
The organization of the IAOA Summer School is moving on, it is expected that
the organizing committee will present a proposal to the EC by the middle of
October. In November the preliminary announcement of the School will be
circulated. (013)
The Infrastructure Committee has presented changes and updates that are to be
implemented in the IAOA webpages. (014)
