The IAOA EC considered the flow of membership requests to the IAOA association. Applications are arriving at a constant pace. Small problems in the registration process have been addressed to speed up the procedure. Some links have been restructured after members' comments. The IAOA has now the funds to pay the costs incurred in initiating the website development and other services.
The IAOA EC solicits ideas on further content that could/should be made available in the member's area.
The IAOA EC discussed the status of the Ontology Summit 2010 and the FOIS 2010 WS on education. The Summit was launched last Thursday (Dec-10) and its organization has been reported. A discussion on the link between the two initiatives took place. A report on the Summit could be featured at the workshop to emphasize the connections between the events and to highlight how initiatives develop. The workshop may give more room to people who are teaching ontology-related programs.
A report on the status of the FOIS 2010 conference was given. The review process is still going on since some reviews are missing. A maximum of 30 papers will be accepted. Also, some organization issues related to the satellite workshops on education and "Modular Ontologies" were discussed.
The IAOA EC is considering inviting people that are active in local communities to report to the EC about their situation, questions, activities and to evaluate the opening of local chapters of the association.
