[08:38] ErnaniSantos: I'm a Ph.D Student in UFES Brazil. My area of research is Conceptual modeling and Ontologies. [08:38] AuronaGerber: I'm here but you could not hear me. Technology challenges, perhaps next time. South AFrica [08:42] DavidMcClure: I am David E. McClure, Jr., of the U.S. Government site Data.gov. Jeanne Holm forwarded the web conference invitation. [08:43] DavidMcClure: I am the Data.gov lead for metadata and will listen in if you have no objection. [09:13] PeterYim: @DavidMcClure - we welcome your participation and contribution! ... (Fyi, all virtual events on Ontolog are free and open) [08:45] PeterYim: == MichaelGruninger opening ... [08:46] anonymous1 morphed into ElisaKendall [08:48] PeterYim: == MikeBennett presenting ... [08:51] PeterYim: MikeBennett: FIBO = Financial Industry Business Ontology [08:51] PeterYim: MikeBennett: FIBIM = Financial Industry Business Information Model [08:53] DavidEddy: Mike's slides are only at GoToMeeting? (which I can't get too) [08:54] PeterYim: @David - you can download the slides from http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?OOR/ConferenceCall_2012_03_06#nid35ZW ... and run the slides from your own desktop, the speaker will prompt everyone to advance as required [08:55] DavidEddy: Thnx! [09:09] PeterYim: Mike Bennett: (slide #15) FIBIM = ISO TC68/SC4/WG11 N12 v 3.2 [09:14] LeoObrst: @MikeBennett: can you describe your "archetypes"? The health record community has "archetypes" of a sort. In addition, the UML world has "prototypes". Are all these related? [09:20] MikeBennett: @Leo our concept of an Archetype is just like a stereotype except that it is also a model element. It represents the ultimate abstraction of each class of "Thing", for example if all securities and derivatives are a Contract, what is the simplest kind of thing that is a Contract, and what are all the facts which necessarily and always apply to all Contracts? The element so defined is the archetype of Contract, and is also the ancestor of all classes of Thing which are themselves Contracts. Its necessary facts are inherited and/or specialized/extended by the classes of thing which are below this in the taxonomic hierarchy. [09:20] MikeBennett: @Leo in short, we called it Archetype because this was pretty much in line with the dictionary definition of that word, and so without reference to other, possibly technical uses of that word. [09:14] PeterYim: == DavidNewman presenting ... [09:15] DavidEddy: DavidNewman's slides are where? [09:16] MikeBennett: @DavidEddy DavidNewman has not prepared slides. If you go to the GoToMeeting you can see what he has on screen. I believe some views form this will be uploaded after this session. [09:17] DavidEddy: @MikeBennett: thnx... can't get to GoToMeeting. [09:23] MikeBennett: I'm sorry to say that the GoToMeeting session has reached its capacity of 16 attendees. [09:24] MikeBennett: Now showing the Protege screen with annotation metadata examples [09:25] PeterYim: @DavidEddy and All - I have the GotoMeeting session displayed on the VNC screen now ... so, if you can get to VNC you might still catch it there [09:26] DavidEddy: @PeterYim: don't see it... will wait for slides [09:27] MikeBennett: It is displaying on the VNC screen, I can see it from here. [09:28] DavidEddy: @MikeBennett - evidently I don't know where VNC is [09:30] MikeBennett: @DavidEddy - when you right click on the link on the session page, open in new tab or window, you get a login - type 'ontolog' - if you did that, the VNC starts as a separate application which may be lurking on your task bar. [09:29] ToddSchneider: DavidNewman, could you explain what you mean by 'navigate'? [09:33] PeterYim: == MichaelGruninger moderating discussion ... [09:33] MikeBennett: Also since ElisaKendall is here maybe we can hear a bit on the OMG's vision for element level metadata [09:40] PeterYim: @Elisa - can you share your "metadata spreadsheet"? ... (is this slide#6 on Mike's slide deck?) [09:40] ElisaKendall: What I have hasn't been approved for release from OMG, but you can take Mike's slide as a partial view of it [09:46] MikeBennett: My slide 6 shows only a small extract of the OMG AB Recommendations spreadsheet. [09:41] PeterYim: Thank you for the response, Elisa ... would look forward to looking at it when it is released; please let us know. [09:45] DavidEddy: @MikeBennett - I suspect this is a platform issue. I'm on legacy Mac & do not (yet) have Java v1.6. [09:52] ErnaniSantos: Sorry, but I have to go. Thanks for this good session. Bye. [09:54] PeterYim: @Ernani - bye ... thank you for the participation! [09:54] MikeBennett: Use Cases: We are also looking at model-specific use cases such as making references to regulatory requirements for financial industry concepts [09:55] MikeBennett: Use Cases: also mapping to different models (especially non OWL ones) [10:02] MikeBennett: Demystifying Financial Services Semantics - in NYC. Joint EDM Council / OMG [10:04] MikeBennett: http://www.hypercube.co.uk/edmcouncil and navigate to the "Downloads" tab. Note that many of the diagrams on this site are a bit out of date as we move over to the OMG standards process. [10:05] PeterYim: great session! [10:05] LeoObrst: Goodbye, folks!
