Michael mistakenly said MikeBennett will tell us more about SOCoP, when he meant MikeDean] @Michale - SOCOP is not me PeterYim: that's MikeDean (SOCoP) PeterYim: == MikeBennett describing his work ... PeterYim: MikeBennett: applying the OMG Ontology Definition Metamodel (ODM) PeterYim: MikeBennett: to model Financial Industry PeterYim: MikeBennett: first formal ontology product - ontology for "business entity" PeterYim: MikeBennett: FIBO - Financial Industry Business Ontology PeterYim: MikeBennett: as distinct from operational ontology PeterYim: MikeBennett: which we will try to design (the operational ontology) down the line MichaelGruninger: FIBO is a modular ontology axiomatized in OWL MichaelGruninger: What are the major modules in FIBO? MichaelGruninger: MikeBennett: Business Entities, Reference Data, Derivatives, Market Data, Loans, Security Transactions, Time/Date PeterYim: MikeBennett: the "Business Entities" ontology module will comprise of about 9 .owl files and will be available within the next few days, and those could be uploaded to the OOR MichaelGruninger: Has FIBO reused OMG Date-Time Vocabulary Ontology? MichaelGruninger: The Common Logic axiomatization of OMG Date-Time Vocabulary Ontology has already been included in COLORE MichaelGruninger: We should get someone from OMG DTV to upload the OWL axiomatization to one of the OOR instances MichaelGruninger: What is the url for the W3C time ontology that is related to FIBO? MichaelGruninger: If there is an axiomatization of OMG DTV in SBVR, we should get someone from OMG to upload that to an OOR instance as well MichaelGruninger: FIBO requirement -- representing entities and properties that vary over time e.g. prices PeterYim: MB: building a "transaction ontology" based on REA PeterYim: Hi MikeDean! PeterYim: MikeBennett: SWIFT - two standards ISO 15022 (in ASN.1) & ISO 20022 PeterYim: MikeBennett: "derivative ontology" essentially FpML MikeBennett: @Peter to clarify, FpML is an ontology of Derivatives, not a derivative of an ontology. PeterYim: @Mike - thanks PeterYim: MikeBennett: after "Business Entities" ontologies, the next sets to be available will be "securities" and "loans" PeterYim: MikeBennett: "securities" and "loans" ontologies in owl after its planned September 2012 release MichaelGruninger: We should get FIBO uploaded to OOR-sandbox PeterYim: MikeGruninger: what OOR instance should one upload to? PeterYim: PeterYim / KenBaclawski - OOR-sandbox would be the one ... we are trying to keep OOR-sandbox (production) stable, and for "content" folks to kick the tires with ... while OOR-dev and OOR-test would be the instances for the (code-)developers PeterYim: MikeBennett: we will be moving our work primarily to "Adaptive" a metadata repository ... which will essentially where we plan to host the work primarily PeterYim: == MikeDean describing the SOCoP work PeterYim: MikeDean: uploaded around 25 ontologies onto the SOCoP-OOR instance already PeterYim: MikeDean: now planning to write a little program to upload all the SWEET modules as one big ontology MikeDean: SWEET 2.3 has 6000 concepts in 200 modules http://sweet.jpl.nasa.gov/ MichaelGruninger: Modularity is a key notion that should be explicitly supported by OOR PeterYim: MikeDean: consideration for the emerging EarthCube project needs PeterYim: MikeDean: maybe OOR-sandbox is a suitable place to try things out, but eventually, EarthCube probably should have their own instance of OOR PeterYim: MikeDean: the FIBO ontologies would probably benefit from running its own OOR instance too MichaelGruninger: I'm a little worried about too much proliferation of different OOR instances PeterYim: == BobSmith describing his work around Building standards PeterYim: BobSmith: NBIMS v2.0 released last week PeterYim: BobSmith: NBIMS (or BIM as it is frequently known) KenBaclawski: The OOR currently supports several formats: Lexgrid, OBO, OWL, OWL-DL, OWL-Full, OWL-Lite, Protege and RRF. Does it make sense for an ontology to be available in multiple formats on the same OOR? OWL2 has a set of profiles (DL, RL, QL, EL, Full). Should these be supported? MikeBennett: Interoperability: there is no exact edge between finance / loans / construction loans / real estate / construction / project management etc. but terms in each of these have a bearing on terms in the others. This is where we need true semantic interoperability i.e. alignment of business meanings. MikeDean: I think views can be used to accommodate multiple formats. Profiles apply more to reasoning tools rather than content. It can be useful to capture the actual or expected profile level for an ontology, but you generally wouldn't want multiple versions differing only in profile. Tools will just ignore OWL constructs they don't support. PeterYim: @Michael: I need a few minutes to talk about tying down events for 6/19 & 6/26 ... so event planning: PeterYim: MikeDean - "Technical details for OOR for BigData" - new series - 6/19 PeterYim: MichaelGruninger: reserving 6/26 for OOR-content-III BobSmith : A short disclaimer from Bob: Tall Tree Labs is interested in understanding if Open Ontology Registries can be of significant future interest to the building information modeling community as plans evolve for the 3rd version of a National Building Information Modeling Standard-US. ... Please accept this RSVP for the 8:30am meeting. Sorry I am so late in responding, but needed to clarify a few concerns. ... Regards, Bob / Bob Smith, Ph.D. / Tall Tree Labs --- Lead, NBIMS 3.0 Ad Hoc Committee on Levels of Model Development and Reference Architecture, buildingSMART Alliance - National Institute of Building Sciences KenBaclawski: @Mike: I agree, although it is not necessarily just a case of ignoring unsupported OWL constructs as the restrictions sometimes involve interactions between different constructs. There are other issues as well, that would be hard to explain in this comment. TerryLongstreth: Bye all PeterYim: Michael: very productive session ... talk to you all again 6/12 (regular OOR team meeting) [10:03] PeterYim: -- session ended: 10:02 am PDT -- ---------
