Please provide us with the following information so that we can better serve and support this community of practice: Question 1Background Provide a brief description of your background "I'm originally from Arkansas. I was a U.S. Army Officer (ADA, Logistics, Comptroller) for 10 years, ending in 85. I transitioned to U.S. career Civil Service as a management analyst to continue a long term organizational reengineering effort and IT infrastructure implementation project, which was essentially an ontology-based process. I left 10 years of Civil Service in 95, joining several IT service firms over the past 8 years. I took a sabbatical from Dec 03 till March 03, and as of this posting, was still taking time off. I am married to the best woman in the world, and have a 27 year old daughter and a new 13 year old boy under our guardianship as of Jan 03. I discovered this list while searching for OWL ontology tools and repositories. My interest in business ontologies goes back to the early 80’s and my roles in U.S. Army management analysis and resource management. My approach to identifying and satisfying enterprise management, enterprise architecture, security architecture, resource/requirements management, and general organizational capability needs is documented at http://one-world-is.com/beam. I’ve used and evolved this approach since around 1977, although I only began to document it around 1983. My learning in this area came via functional process improvement efforts, developing functional vocabularies and common definitions, exploring general semantics/meaning/perception, which led in turn to taxonomies, concept maps, semantic networks, data modeling, process modeling, ontology modeling and knowledge-base development by the late 80’s. My approach is getting a bit of interest from U.S. Government and government contractors for use as a methodology for developing and maintaining enterprise architectures and security architectures."
