README for kifb
===============

kifb (SUO-KIF Browser) is a simple cgi program for online browsing of
ontologies coded in the SUO-KIF language, especially for the Suggested
Upper Merged Ontology, SUMO, being developed within the IEEE SUO
initiative. This package includes the latest version of SUMO, i.e. the
version 1.38 from September 20, 2002.

The features of kifb include:

* kifb explicitly visualises special relations, such as instance,
  subclass, domain etc.

* kifb shows overview of an ontology module (list of classes, instances,
  relations...)

* kifb shows inheritance chart for each concept, including multiple
  inheritance

* for each concept, kifb displays relevant axioms in a structured way in
  SUO-KIF, as well as in natural language.

* kifb displays subclass and instance hierarchy in an interactive
  expandable tree (like in PROTÉGÉ)

The program has been implemented by Michal Sevcenko at the Department of
Computer Science of the Czech Technical University in Prague.
