John Bateman is a Full Professor of Applied English Linguistics at the University of Bremen, Germany. His particular research interests revolve around the relation between language and social context and the computational instantiation of linguistic accounts of register, genre, functional variation, lexicogrammatical description and multilingual and multimodal linguistic description.
