Kiyong Lee is professor emeritus of Korea University in Seoul, specializing in formal and computational semantics. In ISO TC 37, he serves as Convenor and Project Leader in the area of language resource management.    (3QH0)

Professor Kiyong Lee was formerly president of the Linguistic Society of Korea (1990- 92) and also president of the Korean Society for Cognitive Science (1989-1990). He was one of the founders of the Pacific-Asia Conference on Language, Information, and Computation (PACLIC). He was chair of the Committee on the Korean Language and Information, Ministry of Information and Tourism (1998-2002), Republic of Korea. His holds a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Texas at Austin (1974), an MA in English from Chonnam National University, Korea (1967), and a BA from Saint Louis University in St. Louis, USA, with an emphasis on classical study, mathematics and philosophy (1963).    (3QH1)

In 2002, Professor Lee received an academic achievement award from the Korean National Academy of Sciences and an Excellent Book award for his book Computational Morphology (1999) from the Ministry of Culture and Information, Republic of Korea. In 2006, he was also awarded the Eugen Wuester Special Prize for his work associated with terminology and language resources in ISO.    (3QH2)
